The Bible tells us little about James the Less (that is, "the younger" to differentiate him from the older Apostle James) except that he was among those who went to the upper room to pray after the Ascension of Jesus. Historic writings describe James as a disciplined follower of Christ, who prayed unceasingly and conscientiously shunned worldly pleasures in the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment. James' quiet obedience and unheralded ministry inspires this psalm; a simple prayer for divine order, illumination and balance.
